Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I pick up the meat?

Beef can be picked up from our farm location or we can meet you at a convenient predetermined location. A delivery fee will be added to your purchase. Contact us for more details.

If I order a ½ or whole beef, do I have to deliver the live animal to the processor myself?

No you do not. We will deliver the animal to the processor for you.

What kind of beef cattle do you raise?

Ridge Line Farms raises Black Angus influenced beef cattle.

How much meat do I get from a whole beef animal?

Our beef cattle usually yield around 55% of their live weight in product. In other words, 55% of what the animal weighs before processing could be available in edible meat.

What do you feed your cattle?

Our cattle are raised and grown on grass pastures. In winter, they are fed hay and supplemented with grain. When finishing our beef animals prior to processing, they are fed a corn-based grain feed in addition to being able to freely roam our grass pastures.

How old are your cattle when you wean them and process them?

Our cattle are weaned when they are 7 months old. At this time, we add grain to their diet. Our cattle are processed at 15-18 months of age. This means that our cattle receive grass, hay, and grain-finished diet until processed. We believe this is part of what makes our beef a great tasting product.
